Fredericton Food Bank at Greener village has thanked Unifor Local 4504 for their donation this year to the feed the families campaign.
Greener Village started as The Fredericton Food Bank in 1983, becoming one of the first food charities in the Greater Fredericton Area. In 2012, the Fredericton Food Bank made the transition to their new building and with space now available, they have developed a Learning Kitchen, Community Gardens and the Unique Boutique.
The Union Local has supported the Foodbank over the years and again this year in donating funds to feed 10 families over the holiday season.
The Foodbank provides emergency access to high-quality food in a dignified setting that promotes choice and self-esteem and the Foodbank in servicing the Greater Fredericton Area, provides emergency food relief to more than 1,200 families a month, approximately 3,500 people, 32% of which are children.
Greener Village, which is located at 686 Riverside Drive, offers healthier food choices in their food hampers, cooking workshops in their Learning Kitchen, gardens and greenhouses to provide organic produce, and community education about food insecurity, poverty, and agriculture.
